84 Pillared Cenotaph

The stunning 84-pillared cenotaph (chaurasi khambhon ki chhatri) was constructed in AD 1683 by Rao Anirudh Singh (r. 1682–1696 AD) to acknowledge and honour the services of his wet nurse. The outstanding pavilion is a two-storeyed structure that rests on a 12-ft high platform and serves as a cenotaph as well as a temple due to the presence of a Shivalinga here. There are sculptures of animals carved in relief on sides of the plinth and the ceilings on both the floors are decorated with paintings of Rajput battles.
